Hungry-Naruto

Hungry-Naruto

Hungry-Naruto.com was a community anime fan site dedicated to the Japanese anime Naruto back in mid 2000 before the series came to America. The site started out as a pure HTML site with no features and a very poor interface. I joined the staff of Hungry-Naruto and redesigned the site using HTML, CSS, PHP, and a couple of Java scripts. After a few months and a much larger community base we added more features; including a forum, members’ area script, and free web layouts and scripts. After the redesign we saw a 75% increase in traffic and subscribed members.

Coded Features

Forum
The forum, not pictured here, was a heavily modified phpBB forum designed to appear as if it were integrated into the site; filling in the content area as if they were browsing another page on the site. This was crucial because competing websites offered similar features but lacked the community involvement due to poor forum design and implementation.

News Script
The front-page displayed a news script to allow the website owner to post up-to-date news at any time. The script was a basic php script, heavily modified by myself to integrate it into the site as well as to add ease of use for the owner.

Members Script
The members’ script was originally created by another group but as the Lead Coder on Hungry-Naruto it was my job to modify the script and make it work for the website. The members’ script allowed users to download media content and view restricted areas of the site.

Content
Because this was based on an ongoing series the content was updated every week with new information and media. I worked alongside the website owner gathering and posting the information as a content manager.

Graphics
The graphics were designed by another individual, ‘Martegod’, very crucial to the team because of his artistic style and skill. We worked together and he provided the visual outlook while I handled the back-end coding.
